More stolen moments & THE END

Category: travel, life

It seems that whenever we wanted to end something, gush of nostalgia would suddenly filled this tiny gray matter of ours. I made some wonderful trips, had some memorable fixes, sometimes fun but often tiring & trying. But these were exactly the bits & pieces that slowly built up my experiences & appetite for more challenges ahead.

Some have been blogged, some not - too numerous recount. Still I hope to share snippets of these wonderful experiences before I embarked on another new journey.

For those who have previously expressed interest in my new journey, I will be informing you of this new place soon (Probably early Apr 2008) ;)

THANK YOU & ADIEU!!!………..

Travel Packing List & GPS

Category: travel, life

Usually I kept a standard Travel packing list for various kind of travels. You may have one list for long trip oversea and another for day trip to nearby location. I find that it really handy & helps you to pack quickly. You just need to add extras item when you think you may need to cover special activities.

So for typically Motorbike day trip, a daytrip backpack, basic first aid kit, sunblock & GPS are my essential. Not shown in photo are the extra T-shirt, water bag, energy snacks). I only need to thrown in extras like insect repellent since i anticipate I may trek a little.

One of the more useful gadget I acquire is this portable GPS. While I may not have use them frequently for short trips & familiar routes, I still find them useful in helping to remember POI (Point of Interests) as well as occasion location verification just to ensure I’m right on track. Previously, I have relied on map & compass. But after my driving trip around North Thailand (Mae Hong Son Loop), I find the compass & map to be difficult to use especially on winding terrains / roads.

So there, just sharing some of my travel experiences … have a good weekend!

This Week’s Rant

Category: travel, life, malaysia

Tires, being your only contacts with the tarmac, are absolutely the most important components on the whole automotive system. Without them, you can’t move & control your vehicle. And when you can’t control, you & your vehicle becomes with a road hazard to others around you. This is downright irresponsible to other road users & your family (since you are endangering yourself as well)

Hence, always sadden me when I see such irresponsible drivers / riders on the road. Just look at the worn-out tires! Besides, this is a huge commercial truck, it would be disastrous in event of mishaps due to tires.

And to add salt to the wound, their spare tires weren’t in good condition as well too. I sincerely hope Johor authorities do something so control this situation.

This Week’s Rants

It must be one of those weeks or even month when everything simply doesn’t turns out right! Perhaps it’s because Mercury turns retrograde on 01Feb2008? In Astrology terms, Mercury is the planet of communication, negotiation, contracts & commerce, so when is out of phase, my life goes havoc!

Let’s start with work. Every tasks not going smoothly as scheduled and yet new issues that seems pop up out-of-the-blue, and continue to morph from one to yet another new form (of issues). Needless to say, this cause deadline pressures to build up rapidly. And I need to be on the double to clear them ASAP before work starts to pile up!

Insommia Antidote

Category: life, home

It seems that I’ve finally found my antidote for insomnia? The Single Malt Scotch Whisky!

I’ve chanced upon this while I was sipping & savouring the Single Malt Whisky which I bought recently. Apparently, the “Water of Life” (As Whisky derives its name from the Gaelic word for “water” called uisge-beatha in Scotland) slowly relaxes and drove me into slumberland finally.

I could have easily brushed it off as one-off effect, however, my subsequent attempts proves to me that it does brings me some quality sleep time finally.

Upon further reading, I realize they not only help to reduce stress, protect against heart disease and promoting appetite & sleep, single malt whiskies are also loaded with Ellagic acid that may protect you from cancer (according to research). Of course, as with all alcoholic drinks, it has to be done in moderation.

Well, it seems like Whisky going to be part of my life for now! :)

GONG XI FA CAI 2008

Category: life, home

A personalized Chinese New Year Card for my readers. :)

Well, I have to apologize that this is actually this an autumn scenery during my trip to Beijing in 2003 (I think). It was somewhere near xiang shan 香山 (Famous for its Autumn red leaves). We were a little early for autumn foliages at xiang shan, so the taxi driver drove us to another small town nearby. Though it’s still not even 80% red, I’m already blown away by this scenery!

Frankly, I’ve been taking less photo recently due to workload. In fact, I’ve been unable to obtain longer annual leaves for vacation. Only made it to Kuching, Hong Kong and Bangkok . Probably would have gone to Japan again if only ….. *sighz*

Anyway, was looking for something auspicious colors for CNY card but couldn’t find any in my 2007 collections. So I decide to pull out something from the past, something red or perhaps orange, and hence I think this autumn scenery fits the bill nicely. :)

GONG XI FA CAI again! ;P
Hopefully 2008 will be a bountiful year of travels!
