Bangkok2007: Pomodora Spaghetteria
Category: food, thailandIt seems that I’m having a luck streak when it comes to finding food. I didn’t plan much for this Bangkok Trip, but I keep nailing on the right eatery that eventually becomes “one of my favorite”. Pomodora Spaghetteria & Pizzeria is yet another one!
A very casual Italian dining right in the Emporium Food Mall. With tired legs and growling tummy, I’m just too anxious to have all those fixed soon. While there were Japanese, Chinese etc but I realize I haven’t tried Italian for many moons. Hence Pomodora it shall be! But what really makes me smiles is when I spotted one of my favourite italian food on the menu. It’s black like ink, stains like black ink, it’s from the sea … wanna make it guess before clicking on the more? ;P
Before I go on, they serves standard (no need to order as these comes with your meal) Antipasta of Ciabatta with chunky tomatos sauce & a spicy tomato sauce. Ciabatta & sauces are so good & fresh!
Next, I ordered the Wild Rocket Salad, Porcini with Balsamic & Truffle Oil. (320THB).
Bonus are that it comes with large chunky pieces of prawns & lobster. Mine you, this serving is easily for 2 person but I finished them up in no time LOLz
And finally something I’m anxiously waiting for .. tada .. Spaghetti al Nero di Seppia or Squid Ink Spaghetti. (180THB). While I was attentively enjoying the rich aroma of the sea, I can feel that some people are side-glancing my way, probably puzzling why this strange fellow like to eat something that looks so unappetizing.
Well, that’s for those not in the know. Squid ink Spaghetti is regular Spaghetti with additional of Black ink from a sac of the squid. The squid uses these black ink to escape against their predators by clouding the surrounding water with blackish ink.
I guess it taste saline with strong sea tang (which I realise it might not be for all). Add few squid rings, with simple garlic, white wine sauce & chili. it’s SUPER TASTY for me! Yes, I’m definitely going again (hopefully soon)

“Squid Ink Spaghetti”
It’s called “spaghetti alla camicia nera” in the Veneto (Venice) region, or “black shirt spaghetti” which is a dig at the fascists.
