Bangkok2007: Kobune Japanese Restaurant

Category: food, travel, thailand

Given the popularity of Bangkok to Japanese Tourists, it’s not surprising to see so many Japanese Restaurant in Bangkok alone. From high end to budget - Kobune belongs to another domestic budget Japanese Restaurant along with Oishii, Fuji, Sakae etc.

While I have seen Kobune in Siam Paragon & probably Central as well, this is my first for Kobune. I dined at their branch in IT Mall. IT Mall is located near Phra Ram 9 MRTA Station.

Like others, they also have sushi train. But instead of train, boats are use since Kobune means boat in Japanese. I have to say their selection aren’t fantastic, hence I’m ordering ala-carte instead.

The place looks quiet, but that could be because I came during non-peak hours (around 2~3pm). Nevertheless, I enjoy the peace during my dining, certainly much better than the squeeze at Oishii, Sakae (which are more popular to Youngsters)

The clams in miso soup with enoki is forgettable.

The sushi set was alright. Nothing extraordinary but good at this price range.

But their Konjac noodles are really good for me. Healthy Konjac cold noodles in Goma (Sesame) dressing, topped with some shredded purple cabbage & crab sticks. Light, healthy & tasty, I didn’t see this on menu of other budget restaurants, haven’t check out the up-market though but I did glance at menu Kabuki (@ Siam Paragon, and didn’t spot any as well.

A complimentary strawberry ice cream ends the meal nicely.

Bill totals up to about 561Baht (including tax & service), so it’s a nice price for those on budget. For me, I would gladly return for their konjac noodles again.
