Hong Kong::Causeway Bay Food

Category: food, travel, hong kong

Some come for Shopping, some for Disneyland but food is usually the reason why I’m here in Hong Kong. Since I’m around Causeway Bay for most of the time, here are some food that I relish.

蛇王二 - as the name implies, they are selling something related to snakes.

Hong Kong::Same old goodness

Category: travel, hong kong

I haven’t been to Hong Kong since 2004. Not that I dislike the place, in fact, I do terribly miss the food in Hong Kong. The Asia “playground” (Yes, I often like to refer traveling as sort of visiting the playground) have been too huge to cover, so I’m trying to visit different “playground” every year to experiences the other parts of Asia.

However, I also curious & keen to know of changes around places that I visited. (Probably that’s the reason why I like reading blogs that talks about life in other countries?). So you can imagine how delighted am I after being informed of a short working trip to Hong Kong.

As I was standing on upper floors of Times Square, nothing too drastic seems to have changed, as far as my memory allows.

Find your own Road

Category: travel, life, malaysia

I can’t remember when I got this wallpaper of VW Golf GTi from the internet, it must be around Year 2000. While VW Golf GTi itself was a droolilious car back then (btw, it STILL IS LOLz), what caught my attention more was their slogan: “FIND YOUR OWN ROAD”. (I think VW slogan has already changed, but may have pickup by others for their marketing slogan)

This message comes driving strong & hard during the difficult period of organizational reshuffling, down-sizing, out-sourcing etc. Very trying period, I must say. Fortunately, it also thaught me a harsh lesson on independence, control, steering your direction to finding your own niche. In other words, “FIND YOUR OWN ROAD”

This applies to life as well too! So what drives you?

It is of no incidence that this also sparks my interests to motor touring. Be it 2 or 4 wheels, I simply love the alluring open road, the freedom to go wherever I want, stop whenever I want. It’s just like being master of your own destiny, savoring the taste of life as it comes along.

Botanical::Gloriosa lily (updates)

Category: photo, home

It has been the most tiring & eventful day. The new, the outstanding, the follow ups consecutively arriving one after another. Fortunately, some good news drop by as well, offering a cool respite from my heated up work schedules. *phew*

Since I have little time at this hour, and also knowing that these Gloriosa lily have budding for some of my friends. Let have a quickie on this unusual and exotic flower.

Gloriosa lily (Gloriosa superba), Gloria lily or Climbing lily is one of the most unusual member of lily family (Liliaceae). Not only the bizzare shape with vivid crimson / yellow flowers makes it a sight to behold, they are also unlike other lilies because of their twining vines. Tendrils on the glossy leaves aids them in climbing, hence they are very suitable growing over the fence.

Besides being a easy grower, they’re known to purify the air when grown indoors. Their exotic floral definitely looks great as cut flowers . However, you should be wary as they are poisonous when ingested. Pets were affected most, so keep them away from these gory glory lilies.

Interestingly, I read that they were traditionally used to treat head ticks in the past. But please do handle them with care.

UPDATES!

The fruits which I will sun dried them before attempting to germinate.

HAVE AN UNUSUAL & MOST EXOTIC WEEKEND!

Simple & yet not so simple

Category: food, home

Going to temporary rest those travel posts while I deal with trivialities. Like attempting to perfect those half boiled eggs :D

I’m sure all, Singaporean, would have these simple, delectable, nutritious half-boiled egg at some point of their life. While it’s “SIMPLE” to make, in no way (at least to me) it is SIMPLE perfecting them, consistently, every time. Many variables comes into play here, like size of egg, temperature of egg prior to putting into the water etc.

Needless to say, dealing all these variables are too complex for weekend fun. Then one fine day, while fiddling with the milk thermometer (for frothing milk of course). I got the weird idea of heating up specific temperature and letting the eggs cooked at different intervals.

So 3 eggs @ 80°C ………. click below for the results!
