Sarawak::Gunung Gading - Getting there
Category: travel, malaysiaFinally, I decided to remove the links to others blogs. Not because I’m “unfriendly”, but I find it redundant since I’ve bookmarked these blogs in another more convenient location for myself. To those which I linked previously, my sincere apologies, do feel free to remove my blog link from yours. Anyway, you won’t get much link redirection from my blog right?

In it’s place, I will add an index or quick links to those travels, food etc. Hmm … I’m still looking for the codes to do the expanding menu. e.g Clicking on JAPAN will expand to another menu below.
That’s all about changes to my blog that I will be making soon

Continuing with my Sarawak, Kuching trip. Since there are about 22 pixs, I’ll split them into 2 posts. This post will be about how to get to Gunung Gading while another covers the local floral (and Rafflesia of coz!) & fauna.
This is my trip to see the largest flower in the world, The Rafflesia!. I knew about it many years back but never really make a plan as it seems to be extremely difficult to meet the Rafflesia in full bloom.
These parasitic flowers can grow up to 1 metre in diameter which gives a nasty smell to attracts flies and other insects. While it take 9 months to mature and flower, the flower only last for 4~5 days. Besides, they don’t have any flowering pattern or season. Hence, meeting these rare flowers in full bloom was like buying the lottery or luck dip for me.
NOTE: You can call ahead to check with National Park (1-082-735714 - Gunung Gading NP), but that’s provided you are staying near or you don’t mind the oversea phone bills.
Gunung Gading is located in Lundu District - about 1.5hr drive from Kuching City. You can get the local tour package or take the slow coach (READ: Bus) just like me. I always like to go local way, whenever possible, to enrich my travel experiences. Of course, I fully understand this is not everybody’s cuppa.
