Homecook::Unagi-Okra Don

Category: food, home

oooooooh, looks like got some time to post a foodie post

I always like Unagi (Japanese Grilled Eel) with just plain rice. This combo works for me all everytime, anytime, anywhere =-P But when I saw a recipe those uses Okra along with Unagi, I suddenly feels urge to experiment, to explore new tastes. And it certainly helps that I happen to have some leftover Okra in the fridge.

Sarawak Cultural Village 10 - Cultural Dance Show

Category: travel, malaysia

May have to switch to hibernate mode after this post, as working getting busier plus upcoming work trip looming ahead. Probably to resume early June 2007. Stay Tuned!

As I have mentioned earlier, one of the highlights at Sarawak Cultural Village was their multi-cultural dance performance. It will be a shame to miss this excellent performance, but since there are only 2 shows daily, so do time your visit carefully along with the performance schedules as mentioned earlier.

Also, do remember to be there at least 1/2 hour earlier so that you can choose the best seats. I was admiring these beautiful hand painted artwork of Orchids hung outside the theatre, probably for drying. Unfortunately, they didn’t mention if these were for sale.

Oh, before you click the MORE, do note it’s a long post ahead. ;P

Sarawak Cultural Village 09 - Sarawak Ethic Set Lunch

Category: food, travel, malaysia

I felt tingling burning sensation all over me.
I think Baddies have been living inside me.
Fight I must; Frigging germs go DIE DIE DIE!

Oops! think I need a blog break, otherwise, I may do the Saturday Night FEVER this weekend *Touchwood!* LOLz

So after the house visits, my tummy starts to grumble for some comfort food. There was a very nice restaurant at Sarawak Cultural Village which, to my delight, serves Sarawak Ethnic Set Lunch. I would love the full course elsewhere, unfortunately, having a short stay makes all these quite impossible.

Having something is better than nothing, I reckon that would be a good introductory meal to Sarawak Local Ethnic Food. 2 sets namely:-
Sarawak Seafood Set Lunch (RM20 per pax)
- Stean Rice In Banana Leaf
- Air Batu Lesong Nenek with Umai
- Ikan Assam Pedas Sarawak
- Prawn with herbal set
- Crispy Squid with Black Pepper set

I have decided on the other Sarawak Ethnic set Lunch (RM12 per pax) not because it’s cheaper, but because I’m more eager to try the Manok pansoh (Chicken cooked in Bamboo).
A refreshing fruit punch (included in the set) comes greeting me, helping to drown all the heat that I accumulated on those house visits. Yeah, really hot weather, I must say.

Sarawak Cultural Village 08 - Melanau Tall House

Category: travel, malaysia

What a bloody hot day to be on a scooter! My forearms were pretty much roasted like suckling piggy grrrrrrrrrrrrr. All red red & painful, yeah I forgotten the sunscreen arghhhhh! However I REALLY need to sent it down to workshop & have brake pads replaced; the front was totally worn out, the rear was nearing the end-of-life!

The first workshop recommends me to have the brake disc too. Well, I don’t really agree actually, I reckon it going to last a at least a year more but I ask for quote anyway. And that buggerr brings me a nice racy brake disc that cost $230++ each! (Didn’t include the brake pads yet)

Me: *ahem* got normal one bo?
Bugger: No have, this is very good with super powerful stopping power leh. Even used in racing before!
Me: But I’m not racing what? so don’t need a racy brake disc leh, just a normal will do.
Bugger: Sorry, no have lah
(after some usual chitchat with him trying to convince me so as to close the deall)
Me: OK, I think I KIV the brake disc lah, just change the brake pads for me will do.
(Looking around) Bugger: orhhh no mechanic available now, can you wait?
Me: Hmmm …. like that I come back later lor, bye bye

Of coz I didn’t go back, instead went to another workshop nearby to have the brake pads ($30 each) changed after a short wait & without any “irritation”

!!!KNN!!!

oh well, let’s continue with Melanau Tall house ……

Melanau were once widely scattered along the coastal areas of Mukah, Oya & Bintulu in Sarawak. But now have But now have been concentrated in the central coastal area.

Homecook: Tea Leaf Egg (茶葉蛋)

Category: food, life, home

I got an email today about meeting cancellation due to public holiday.
(Thinking to myself) Oh! It’s holiday tomorrow meh???
Still not convinced, I turn around to ask the rest.
Indeed, it’s really a public holiday …. and I WASN’T EVEN exhilarated, not even a tiny bit.
OK, since tomorrow holiday, I must REMEMBER not to come back to work lor.

I think I got ZERO points (零蛋) when it comes to remembering public holidays.
Maybe I’m too engrossed with my work?
Maybe I shouldn’t have taken too much eggs? (蛋).
nah … no matter what, I really want to give try at the Tea Leaf Egg (茶葉蛋)
