Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice

Category: food, home

Margaret Drive Food Centre is a 2 storey building which houses various hawker style food ofSingapore. Being such a lazy bum, I never bothered to walk up to the 2nd storey to check out for more good food. But fate is always interesting funny when one day, while being captivated by beauty of sweet young thing and followed her up the flight of stairs, I got “captivated”by this Sin Kee famous (that what they say about themselves) chicken rice instead.

Their business were brisk & queue was fairly long. I’m surprised even a Japanese expatriate came here to buy packets of this (famous) chicken rice.

Without hestiation, I quickly make my order for a plate of their famous chicken rice with side dish of chicken feet.

The rice imparts good fragrant aroma of spices, chicken & everything nice, not too oily as well. The skinless chicken tastes good, very tender with little meat fibres gets in your way into every bite. The only thing i missed is the chicken skins. They have repeated requests to remove the skins so much so that they remove them by default now. Not me, I love chicken skins, and if you same as me, you better tell them to leaves everything intact when you order.

These is a plate of chicken feet skins (with boney stuffs removed) . Crunchy textures & served with some oyster sauce, excellent! Chicken rice $3, Chicken Feet $3 that’s very reasonable. Far much better then some overhyped overpriced chicken rice somwhere else kekekeke …

They are so good, not only that I lost sight of my sweet young thing, I even decides to try them again another day, this time with skins intact of coz. Since I was busy with work, so I’ve to packet them and enjoy them in office.

Skinwise, that a liitle too slim for me. I guess they uses healthier slim chicken that does daily aerobics excercise hahahaha … I think they uses kampong (Malay: Village) chicken, which means they are free range chicken & are usually less fatty. Anyways, it taste great all the same!

They usually provides dark soya & chilli sauce, but ginger & garlic dipppings are available upon request. I have to give thumbs up to the super power chilli sauce as well ! It’s HOT, so beware!

The dessert stall downstairs is not bad, very retro too.

by the way, their chicken rice used to be better. it was manned by a relative back then and the chicken was MUCH MORE TENDER. now.. oh well. shrug.
