Durian 2006 - Round 3 (Last one, I promise!)

Category: food, home

OK, I promise! This will be the LAST durian post :) No more fireworks, no more durian. I guess people must be getting sick by now *giggle*

Durian season is nearing the end. In fact, even in our local forest, our nature supplies are already diminishing as the freelance “durian hunter” hurled his last haul out of the forest.

D24 Sultan from Malaysia, Segamat, used to be the number one durian until it was dethroned by “Mao Shan Wang” recently.

Creamy, simply melts in your mouth. Excellent bitterness. At $10, I consider this good value for money.

“Mao Shan Wang”, which means King of Cat Mountain. I’m not too sure how the name comes about but this is HOT this year. This comes from Malaysia, Pahang.

Golden color, custard creamy. The flavor transforms from initial sweetness to bitterness is really really good.

The downside, being an HOT item, is that it cost $12/kg. This piece weights 2kg, costing me damage of $24. Most expensive durian I had so far. Great induglence once a while, but i think D24 Sultan will suits my wallet better.

So there, the last of durians …… but also means the beginning for other tropical fruits, like Mangosteen, Duku/Langsat etc. More fruiting time to come. Cheers!
