Durian 2006 - Round 2

Category: food, home

Round2 *ding dong*. On the left we have durian from older trees @ S$5, on the right we have small durian with red flesh @ S$2. Both presumbly from Segamat. FIGHT! :D

From the right, I was quite happy to a generous number of fleshy seed from such a small durian. Nice sweet smell aroma which is bad thing for those who prefer bitter tasting durians.

Small seeds & orangy flesh (which we call them RED flesh). Taste-wise, I find them too sweet, starchy & sticky. Certainly not my cuppa.

From the left, the older trees seems to produce paler flesh? Thick husk with less pith. Nice mild pungent aroma.

Big seeds & creamy flesh. Unfortunately, they are mild tasting, almost neutral with a slight sweetish edge. Not my cuppa again! :(

Therefore, there never was a winner this round. So yours sincerely attempted to be a durian hunter for an hour somewhere in the local forest. Spotting durian, waiting …. waiting .. hopefully for some good “self-picked” durian

Well, picked up 3 smallish green durian which were, unfortunately, unripe. Sighz … durian durian, what a bitter, sweet affair!

But so long there are durians around, you can be sure there will be more rounds coming soon! YAY!
Have a GREAT weekend!
