Sorry for lack of updates. Too much going on recently, the latest being the breakdown of my 5yr (could be 8yr as I bought 2nd hand) vintage 21″ CRT monitor. As such, couldn’t do much updating at home.

Even buying LCD panels was pretty troublesome for me as well. I was looking for affordable 8-bit LCD panels. Meaning they display true 16.7 millions colors instead of 16.2 millions colors from 6-bit LCD panels. There weren’t many within my budget.

Anyway, I finally settled on Viewsonic VX2025wm. Yes, 20.1″ wide screen. Up till now, I’m still unsure if it’s 6 or 8 bit panels as I’ve read conflicting views on the internet.

Aspect ratio is another worry, as I’m afraid that my graphic hardware may not support the 16:10 aspect ratio. (yes, wide screen). Fortunately, my worries were unfounded, it works perfectly, plug n play @ 1680 x 1050 (After a quick configuration) *sweet!*

DVD movies works just fine as well, no ghostling as average 8ms response time is sufficient for DVD playbacks. May need to tweak the colors a little. Not too sure about games as I seldom have got time for that nowadays. So basically, I’m pretty happy with my new LCD panel.
